Single-Row Micro Modular Data Center Upgrade for Government Office in Malaysia
[Abstract]: To solve space limitations in a government server room, this project adopted the GOTTOGPOWER single-row micro modular data center solution. Without increasing the footprint, the upgrade greatly enhanced system reliability, energy efficiency and operation management, creating a standardized, scalable modular server room.
1. Project Background
This project was implemented in a government office building in Malaysia. With the continuous growth of internal IT systems and digital office applications, the existing server room was no longer able to meet evolving business requirements.
The original facility lacked a structured design, with scattered equipment, inefficient space utilization, and poor airflow management. Traditional room-level air conditioning struggled to maintain stable temperatures, often leading to localized hotspots that threatened equipment reliability.
In addition, the power infrastructure lacked sufficient redundancy and protection mechanisms, making it vulnerable to grid fluctuations and unexpected outages. Due to space limitations within the office environment, expanding or rebuilding the data center using conventional methods was not feasible.
As a result, the client required a compact, efficient, and rapidly deployable data center upgrade solution.
2. Solution
To meet these challenges, a single-row micro modular data center architecture was deployed, transforming the traditional server room into a standardized and integrated modular data center environment.
The solution integrates IT racks, UPS systems, power distribution, and precision cooling into a unified platform. A single-row rack layout combined with enclosed cold aisle containment effectively separates hot and cold airflow, significantly improving cooling efficiency.
In-row precision air conditioning units are installed close to the heat source, enabling targeted cooling and stable thermal control. This approach not only ensures optimal operating conditions for IT equipment but also reduces overall energy consumption.
For power protection, a high-reliability UPS system with battery backup is deployed, providing continuous and stable power supply to critical loads. This ensures uninterrupted operation even under unstable grid conditions.
The entire system adopts a prefabricated and modular design, allowing fast installation within the existing office space without complex civil construction, minimizing disruption to daily operations.
3. Key Advantages
The compact single-row data center design maximizes space utilization, creating a clean, organized, and standardized server room environment.

Through this upgrade, the government office successfully transformed its outdated server room into a modern micro modular data center, achieving substantial improvements in performance, reliability, and efficiency.
